Dow Corning works with AMCHAM to support needs of Thailand school

Dow Corning, a global silicone leader, worked with the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) to support the needs of an elementary school in Thailand. Under the ‘Adopt-a-school’ project, Ban Khao Kling School was selected and the scope to provide four major facilities was identified. This included clean drinking water, hygienic sanitation and sheltered walkway, renovation of available space for indoor sports and provision of computers and LCD projector.

Over the past one year, Dow Corning supported and monitored the progress of the developmental activities that were undertaken for the school. Recently, as a mark of completion of all four projects, a ‘Dedication Day’ was organized in the school. With 25 students, six teachers, and 30 parents, 33 Dow Corning Thailand staff members conducted various activities for the students and teachers. These included English language sessions for children, workshops for “Silly Putty”, hand gels and fabric softeners, as well as a presentation on the importance of hygiene. The staff members also volunteered to contribute required supplies and cash to the school. The school students and teachers gave very positive and encouraging feedback about the initiative taken by Dow Corning and AMCHAM.

Speaking on the occasion, ASEAN ANZ President Linda Kennan said: “This initiative is the first part of a commitment to improve the conditions and future potential of students and the surrounding villages. By partnering with AMCHAM, it was possible for us to double our impact on the entire village. Both students and adults can now enjoy learning in a pleasing community setting.” As a note of acknowledgement, Linda said: “Our Bangkok employees showed tremendous compassion and spirit in taking on this cause.”
