As the coming of summer has brought drought and heat to the country, people’s minds are starting to think about escaping to somewhere cool for relaxation. A get away to the beach and islands usually comes first to ones mind, but may not be possible for different reasons. Going to the mountains could possibly be another good choice for those who love to explore the woods and go trekking and still escape the heat.
Once a former base of the Communist party, Phu Hin Rong Kla Natural Park is a recommended destination to go somewhere for cooler temperatures. Because of its elevation above sea level, the mountain is blessed not only with reduced temperatures but with unique natural resources making it a good destination.
Located in Phitsanulok, Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park is famous for its unique landscape and most-visited rock cliff called Lan Hin Taek, where a courtyard of stone is located. White roses that grow naturally in the area is also another reason for people to come visit the park. The white rose is in the Ericaceae family and grows 1-3 meters high blooming March to May annually. The white roses can only be found in Doi Luang Chiang Dao in Chiang Mai, Phu Luang and Phu Kradeung in Loei, and Phu Hin Rong Kla Natonal Park.
To get to Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park, take route number 12 (Phitsanulok-Lomsak) from Phitsanulok and turn left at Baan Yaeng to route number 2013. Drive for about 28 kilometers, turn right to route number 2331. After the turn, drive about 31 kilometers more and you will reach the head quarters of Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park. Another option is either to rent a Song Taew from Amphor Nakorn Thai or a van from Phitsanulok’s city to Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park.
