Kenan Institute in Thailand needs Consultant – Innovative Education (IE)

The Kenan Institute Asia (K.I.Asia), a leading not-for-profit development consulting organization, has been working with private and public sector partners to support sustainable development in Thailand over the past fourteen years. KIAsia has worked very closely with leading US and Thai educational experts and stakeholders in introducing good instructional practices to Thai educational communities. We aim to raise Thai educational standards and practices which contribute to a sustainable impact on student learning.

Consultant – Innovative Education (IE)

We are urgently seeking a fully qualified professional development consultant for a science/math education initiative to be implemented in six provinces of Thailand. The program objective is to build the knowledge and skills of science and math teachers in Grades 1 to 9. The professional development consultant will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage curriculum and training design & development – Work closely with partners to ensure that professional development, mentoring and evaluation processes are of high-quality and utilize training methods and materials that incorporate the input of the advisory committee and related stakeholders..
  • Teacher Mentoring — Provide mentorship for teachers on how to implement good teaching practices and materials in the classroom while maximizing student learning and achievement.
  • Build a community of science and math teachers – Follow up with science and math mentors and engage them in regular mentoring and learning activities. Ensure that they share their practice and work together to improve it.
  • Stakeholder management - Engage provincial education community including provincial administrative organizations, municipalities, educational service areas offices and schools throughout the program implementation process.
  • Coordinate with other educational initiatives – Ensure that program leverages educational activities and resources of KIAsia, and other local and national stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications :
  • Thai national with Bachelor's Degree in Science and a Master's Degree in science or education. Minimum 5 years experience in pre-college education required.
  • Experience in the design and delivery of professional development programs in science or in the development of science curriculum required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, planning, program management, organizational and computer skills
  • Excellent oral and written English communications skills are essential
  • Be available to travel upcountry for at least 3 years.
