The nine VBL staff members will be the first to graduate from the program. Twenty-nine students who completed one or more units will also be awarded with certificates of participation.
Program co-ordinator, Heather Russell, who will deliver a speech at the graduation, said the event will showcase Swinburne’s commitment to delivering high-quality education programs in Vietnam.
“Swinburne is committed to being both a nationally and internationally recognised institution in which the educational curriculum is structured so as to be relevant to the international community as well as Australia,” she said.
“The university values the partnership we have developed with VBL over the past five years and we look forward to future collaboration.
“Their staff are now better equipped to help VBL meet their strategic business objectives and make an ongoing contribution to the community in Vietnam.”
Senior VBL managers and a delegation of Swinburne staff will also be present at the ceremony.
Since VBL was established in 1991, it has expanded and established itself as a leading brewery group in Vietnam. Today, VBL’s operations consist of four breweries and a logistics company, with a geographical reach from Hue province in central Vietnam to South Vietnam. The flagship Hoc Mon Brewery in HCMC was commissioned in 1993.
Swinburne has had an active presence in Vietnam since 1993. Since then, the university has developed partnerships with a number of Vietnamese institutions including Ho Chi Minh City Open University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture and the National Economics University.
The university is best known for its involvement with popular Vietnamese game show Way to Olympia Peak, where high school students compete to win a $US35,000 stipend sponsored by LG Electronics and a full or half scholarship to study their course of choice at Swinburne.
