Studying in Australia - Australian Education International (AEI)

• manages and maintains the offshore Government-to-Government relationship in the education and training field

• works through its International Network to represent Australia's education, science and training interests overseas. This International Network comprises a combination of diplomatically accredited personnel and locally engaged staff in 13 locations across 12 countries i.e. Belgium, - France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, People's Republic of China, Republic of Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, USA, and Vietnam.

• provides high quality advice on international education and related issues to the Australian Government Minister for Education and senior officials

• advances the International Student Strategy for Australia (ISSA) - The strategy seeks to improve the experience of international students in Australia and in turn benefit all of Australian society

• builds strong bilateral and multilateral education relationships with key partners in our region and beyond

• provides support services for student and graduate mobility through scholarship programs and the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (AEI - NOOSR)

• develops world’s best practice in the regulation of education services for overseas students

• works with national and industry partners for the sustainable growth of Australia’s international education sector

In Thailand, Australian Education International:

• develops government-to-government ties including working on bilateral education reform projects in Thailand

• provides high level strategic policy intelligence

• consults on a bilateral and multilateral level on Quality, Regulation, Consumer Protection and Qualification recognition

• manages the Endeavour Awards as the part of Australia Awards

• supports multilateral engagement to advance Australia’s position on education and related issues

• facilitates linkages between Australian and Thai education institutions

• supports activities of the alumni networks in Thailand.

• AEI Bangkok also has responsibility for these select education cooperation activities in the Philippines.

The range of education cooperation activities in which AEI is engaged include:

• the reform of the Thai vocational education and training system

• assistance in the reform of school management

• assistance in developing the National Qualification Framework in Thailand

• Thailand-VET Capacity Building: Establishment of Multi Campus Institutes

• development of the Co-operative Research Centre model in Thailand

• exchange of expertise and capacity building on curriculum and professional development for TESOL teachers in schools.
  
  

In Thailand, Australian Education International also looks after the Australian Government's role in the South East Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (SEAMEO), the International Labour Organisation and UNESCO.
